Event Description

New year, new beginnings, a chance to learn, an opportunity to try new things. Join Where Are We Going as we visit one of our favorite new local treasures—Bughouse Art Studio in Skokie—for a two-hour ceramic workshop and have a little creative fun.

Our first visit to Bughouse Art Studio was Eileen’s first adventure with Where Are We Going. “The whole experience was so upbeat,” she said. “It was good for my whole psyche.”

Studio owner Andrea Horyn will show us how to hand build with clay or work a potter’s wheel. She’ll demonstrate techniques like slab-rolling, coiling, texturizing, scoring, slipping and wheelthrowing.

Never heard of those terms? Don’t worry. Whether you’re an experienced artist or a total newbie, all you have to do is roll up your sleeves and join us to create your own functional or decorative ceramic piece. Once your masterpiece is completed, we will apply a special glaze to the moist clay and the studio will kiln-fire your work, which will be ready for pickup in a few days.

Bughouse Studio is run by Andrea Horyn, an experienced artist and teacher with a masters degree in art education. Bughouse Art Studio is an expression of her creative dreams. Register today to express your own creativity. And since fun is always better when shared, please invite a friend.*
