Karen Gray-Keeler is an adventurer at heart, an organizer by nature and a woman always on the go. She loves being in new situations, meeting a variety of people, and making connections.
And in her spare time? She visits museums, attends lectures and plays, takes tours, and looks into the nooks and crannies of Chicago and its environs to find out where we are going next. She calls this “research”. We call it Where are We Going.
Because Karen pursues such a wide range of activities, her family routinely asks “Who are you today?” Her answers have included:
- volunteer legal aid attorney
- park district trip coordinator
- movie extra
- traveler — locally, nationally and worldwide with family, friends and groups
- museum exhibit supervisor
- tennis player, biker, swimmer, triathlete
- writer and published essayist
- volunteer tax preparer
- arbitrator
- plan commissioner
- ESL tutor
- board member — for cultural, educational, political and religious organizations
